Joseph Alexander Steele passed away at his farm home 5 miles east of Wyaconda, Dec. 8, 1959, at the age of 53 years, 10 months and 28 days.
Mr. Steele, a son of Oscar William and Sarah Isabelle Barber Steele, was born at Wyaconda, Missouri, January 10, 1906.
He was united in marriage to Sylva May Matheson, October 6, 1927. To this union were born four children, Norma Jean, Orville, June and George.
He became a member of the Wyaconda Christian Church at an early age.
He was a member of the Modern Woodmen's organization of Wyaconda for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Orville.
Surviving besides his wife, are his children, Norma Jean Scifres and husband, Virgil of Wyaconda; a son, Orville and wife, Johanna of Gorin; a daughter June Ferguson and husband, Louis of Bagley, Iowa, a son, George and wife Calene of Wyaconda.
A sister, Lena Peterson of Wyaconda, and two brothers, Oscar of Delavan, Illinois and Raymond of Wyaconda.
Nine grandchildren also survive, Harry Jo, Denny, Jennilee, Audrey Jeanne and Vancell Scifres, Candee and Melinda Steele, David Ferguson, and Michael Dean Steele.
A host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Wyaconda Christian Church, Thursday, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Russell O'dell officiating. Burial in the New Woodville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Arthur Steele, John S. Barber, John William Barber, Irvin LaFrenz, Dick LaFrenz, John Polhans.
Singers were Mrs. Kenneth Fry, Mrs. Harold Clough and Mrs. B.F. Hutchenson.1

Joseph Alexander Steele passed away at his farm home 5 miles east of Wyaconda, Dec. 8, 1959, at the age of 53 years, 10 months and 28 days.
Mr. Steele, a son of Oscar William and Sarah Isabelle Barber Steele, was born at Wyaconda, Missouri, January 10, 1906.
He was united in marriage to Sylva May Matheson, October 6, 1927. To this union were born four children, Norma Jean, Orville, June and George.
He became a member of the Wyaconda Christian Church at an early age.
He was a member of the Modern Woodmen's organization of Wyaconda for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Orville.
Surviving besides his wife, are his children, Norma Jean Scifres and husband, Virgil of Wyaconda; a son, Orville and wife, Johanna of Gorin; a daughter June Ferguson and husband, Louis of Bagley, Iowa, a son, George and wife Calene of Wyaconda.
A sister, Lena Peterson of Wyaconda, and two brothers, Oscar of Delavan, Illinois and Raymond of Wyaconda.
Nine grandchildren also survive, Harry Jo, Denny, Jennilee, Audrey Jeanne and Vancell Scifres, Candee and Melinda Steele, David Ferguson, and Michael Dean Steele.
A host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Wyaconda Christian Church, Thursday, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Russell O'dell officiating. Burial in the New Woodville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Arthur Steele, John S. Barber, John William Barber, Irvin LaFrenz, Dick LaFrenz, John Polhans.
Singers were Mrs. Kenneth Fry, Mrs. Harold Clough and Mrs. B.F. Hutchenson.1
