Joseph
W. (William) Barber son of John and Julia Hottle
Barber was born on 7th day of February 1881 and departed life on the
13th day of May 1936 being at the time of his death 55 years 3
months and 6 days old.
On the 4th day
of April 1906 he united in marriage to Ethel Schuster and to this union three
children were born, namely Hilma, Joanna, and John William.
Mr. Barber was a member of
the Wyaconda Methodist Church and was a faithful member for many years. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of
America.
Mr. Barber served as judge
of the county court of Clark county and was a efficient officer. He took an active part in the different farm
organizations of his county and community, and always worked for the betterment
of the community in which he lived.
He leaves to mourn his
death his wife Mrs. Ethel Barber, two daughters Mrs. Hilma Bradford of Bonaparte,
Ia., Mrs. Cecil Hartman of Wyaconda, one son, John William at home, his aged
mother Mrs. Julia Barber of Wyaconda and one sister Mrs. Clifford Hauptman of
Wyaconda besides other relatives and a large number of friends.
Not only his family will
miss this good man but the community as well.
Everybody joins in extending their heartfelt sympathies to his family
and relatives.
Music was furnished by
Mrs. Lee Glidwell, Mrs. Harold Clough, Mr. Alvin
Clough and Mr. Watson Hauptman with Mrs. Alvin Clough presiding at the piano. Mr. Keith Gaston a friend of the family sang “Sunrise
and Sunset” accompanied by Mrs. Gaston.
The body bearers were
cousins of the deceased namely Tom Molley, Joe, Raymond,
and Oslie Steele, Leo Hottle
and Johnny Barber.
Funeral service took place
at the New Woodville church Friday after noon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev.
S. S. Look Pastor of the Wyaconda Methodist church.
