John S. Barber

John S. Barber, 87, of rural Wyaconda. Died Wednesday, May 17, 1989, at 9 p. m. at Keokuk Area Hospital.
     The son of Alexander McMillen and Mary Ann Daugherty Barber, he was born at Wyaconda on June 18, 1901.
     He married Pauline McReynolds in Kahoka on Sept. 18, 1925, and she survives.
     Also surviving are two sons: Mack A. Barber and his wife Lyla of Luling, La., and Dean M. Barber and his wife Marjorie of Wyaconda; one daughter: Donna M. Barber of Kansas City: one sister: Mrs. Mildred VanStrander of Ft. Madison, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Michael, Steven, Jeffrey, Janene, Brenda, Tracy, and Aaron; five great grandchildren: Adam, Michelle, Heather, Ryan and Tony; and other relatives.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter in infancy; and two sisters.
     Barber was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kahoka. He was born and lived all of his life near Wyaconda, where he was engaged in farming.
     Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 20, at 11 a. m. at St. Michael's Church with Rev. Robert Duesdieker and Rev. Ernest Deatrick officiating. Burial was in Wyaconda Cemetery.
     Organist was Juanita Watson; soloist, Dennis Shaffer. Pallbearers were grandsons: Steven Barber, Aaron Barber, Jeffrey Barber, Michael Barber, Timothy Murphy and Gary Dieterich. Honorary bearers were Francis Hull, James Anderson, Irving LaFrenz, Robert Redding, Guy Fields, Clarence Davidson, James Murphy and Clayton Alderton.
     Memorials may be made to the choice of the donor.
