Resident of Wyaconda is Dead at 101
Mrs. Mary (Snider) Hottles died at her home in Wyaconda, Mo. at 10 o'CLOCK P. M., July 22, after a brief illness of one day.
Mrs. Hottle was a sister of Joseph Snider, well remembered pioneer of Lee County, (Iowa), who passed away some 25 years ago, and an aunt of Geo. I Snider of Charleston, Iowa.
She was born in Harrison County, Indiana, Nov. 11, 1832, came to Missouri in the spring of 1854 and has made her home there ever since.
She and her husband reared a family of 8 children. She endured sorrows and hardships, witnessed the passing of the ox-team, grain-cradle, spinning wheel, ect., and also the coming of modern improvements.
At the age of 100 years she went to the polls for the first time and cast her vote for Franklin D. ?Roosevelt, and later received a letter of congratulation from the pressident that she was able to go to the polls to vote for him.
Four of her childern survive their mother. The eldest being Mrs. Julia Barber, 80 years of age.
A brother, Wm Snider, age 90, of Santa Cruize, Calif., also survives.
Mrs. M. W. Wahrer and daughter, Isobel of Charleston, Mrs. Ray Snider and daughter, Aileen, of Brawley, California, great nieces of Mrs. Hottle attended the funeral Tuesday at Wyaconda, Mo.
Mrs. C. J. Wilhelm of Charleston, Mrs. Wm. H. Snider of Montrose are great nieces of the deceased.
