BENJAMIN FRANCIS VIERS

Benjamin Francis Viers was born in Clark County, Mo. (Missouri), 21 May 1871. He was married to Amanda Chappel 20 March 1895. He moved with his wife to Oklahoma in December, 1897, and from thence to New Mexico in May 1902.
He was converted and united with the First Baptist Church of Clovis, New Mexico, about three years ago, and remained a faithful member until he departed this life 6 August 1920.
His father, mother and one sister preceeded him to their heavenly home. Of the family there remains his wife, three sisters and three brothers; Mrs. Ida (Viers) Black of Wyaconda, Mo., Mrs. Zetie (Viers) Haines of Gage, Okla. (Oklahoma), Mrs. Ica (Viers) Van Deventer of Mountain View, Okla., E. S. Viers of Lawton, Okla., W. T. Viers of Haywood, Okla., T. J. Viers of Sayre, Okla., besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
Mr. Viers was an enterprising man and was very much blesses in the management of his farm. He was a man of more than ordinary business acumen, and his investments were quite successful.
He was a good citizen and splendid neighbor, being very much respected by his neighbors, as was well attested by the large and sympathetic attendance upon the funeral services which were held at the home Sunday afternoon, August 8th.
He was a home lover and was very much devoted to his home. He will long be remembered an (as) a good neighbor, a good citizen and a Christian man. Mrs. Viers enjoys the love and esteem of all her neighbors and a host of sincere friends who deeply sympathize with her in her sorrow. But what is our loss is his gain through redeeming love.

Benjamin F. Viers was born near Fairmont, MO. (Missouri), 21 May 1871, and died at his home near Clovis, New Mexico. 6th August 1920, being 49 years, 2 months and 15 days of age. Deceased grew to manhood in Clark County and was married to Miss Amanda Chappell, 20 March 1895. In 1897 they moved to Oklahoma where they lived until 1910 (?), when they moved to Clovis, N. M. Ben. As he was known here, leaves his wife, three brothers, three sisters and a number of relatives and friends to mourn his death. The deceased was a brother of Mrs. H. L. Black, of this city.
