Juanita E. Buford was born at home on a farm outside of Downing, Missouri on July 13, 1933 to Roy Russell Buford and Margaret Kathleen (Blessing) Buford. Juanita lost her mother at the age of two and was raised by her maternal grandmother, Gertrude Blessing in Memphis, Missouri. At the age of ten, Juanita gave her life to Christ and was baptized at First Christian Church in Memphis. She loved the Lord and regularly walked over a mile to attend both morning and evening church services as a child. On July 17, 1949, she married John William Barber and to this union were born: Billy Joe, Dianna Lynne, Steven Mark, Brenda Gail, David Lawrence and Lisa Gertrude. She later married George Hendrick and had a son, Chad Alan. Later she married Bill Cox. Juanita loved her family and Thanksgiving and Christmas were always great celebrations of love and wonderful food. She enjoyed working throughout her lifetime from selling World Book Encyclopedia where she won many awards to being the pharmaceutical manager at Skaggs-Albertsons and later working at American Greetings. Later in life she loved traveling with her husband Bill and her children. Kauai was a favorite destination.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Bill Cox, parents Roy Russell and Margaret Buford, siblings Donald Lee Buford and Roberta Faye Buford Small, great grandchildren Triston and Kurstyn Pelegrin as well as John William Barber and George Hendrick.
She is survived by her children: Bill Barber and wife Min of Fort Worth, Texas; Dianna Barber McCoy of Pampa, Texas; Steve Barber and wife Margaret of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; Brenda Barber Senum of Fort Worth, Texas; David Barber and wife Pamela of Arlington, Texas; Lisa Barber Riddle and husband Albert of Mount Pleasant, Texas; and Chad Hendrick and wife Lili of Rhome, Texas; 23 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and numerous other extended family.
A memorial service will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth on August 20, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. preceded by graveside services at 10:00 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
