His mother and father, four brothers, and three sisters have preceded him in death. He leaves one brother, William of Wyaconda, and the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. Lottie Swain, Lakeland, Florida; Laura Hauptman, Keokuk, Iowa; Mrs. Bertie Young, Kahoka, MO.; Mrs. Georgia Smith, Kansas City, MO.; Mrs. Ethel Butler, Williamstown, MO.; Mrs. Ocie Corbin, Colorado; Clifford and Watson Hauptman, Wyaconda, MO.
Uncle John, as he was called by family and friends, was a familiar and much loved character in the community, always interested in all that concerned his neighbors and friends. He was always ready to help in time of sickness and trouble, and his smile and kindly word will be missed by all.
Funeral service was held in the Wyaconda Christian church 17 January 1939 at 2 p. m., conducted by M. F. Dawson, pastor of the Kahoka Christian church and burial in the Wyaconda cemetery.
A quartet composed of Miss Lillie Baird, Mrs. Louise Hoskins, Al. Clough and Oral Currier sang three numbers, accompanied by Mrs. Al. Clough at the piano.
The body bearers were Tom Wood, Glen Clough, Fred Wahrer, Charlie Muller, Leo Hottle, and Merton Hayden.
