Henry Lee Black

Henry Lee Black, son of Henry and Malinda (Foree) Black, was born June the 25th, 1864, and departed this life September 24, 1931, being 67 years, 2 months and 29 days old.
He was the youngest son of a large family of children and the last to depart this life.
January 19, 1887, he was married to Miss Ida M. Viers. To this union were born four children: Lucy M., Walter Lee, Albert R. and Lourine M., Walter Lee having preceded him in death. There are eight grandchildren.
Lee Black was well known and beloved by a large number of friends as was evidenced by the unusually large crowd attending the funeral.
With the exception of 23 years, his entire life was spent in the vicinity of his late home.
While a young man he united with the New Woodville Baptist church and remained a consistent member until called home.
The funeral services were conducted at 11 a. m., Monday, September 28, at the New Woodville Baptist church, D. W. Rigg, pastor, officiating, and C. V. Baskett assisting.
The pall beares were selected from men of his age and life long acquaintances: George Clough, George Hudson, George Turner, Wm. Hauptman, Guy Cull and Frank Schuster. Guy Cull and Frank Schuster were physically unable to assist at the time and two younger men, John Cull and Chas. Hudson acted in their stead. The body was laid to rest in the New Woodville cemetery.
