VIERS

“Grandpa” Viers as he was called by his closest friends, was born near Frankfort, Ky., Aug. 7th, 1840; died at his home, 909 West Cherokee avenue, Enid, Okla., Sept, 2nd, 1916, aged 76 years and 26 days. He was married to Miss Margaret Irwin near Fairmont, Clark county, Mo., March 10, 1864. Mr. and Mrs. Viers celebrated their golden wedding anniversary March 10, 1914. The deccased is survived by his wife, four son and three daughters, as follows: E. S. Viers, of Shamrock, Okla. B. F. Viers, of Clovis, N. M., W. F. Viers of Hayward, Okla., T. J. Viers of Grimes, Okla., Mrs. H. L. Black of Goltry, Okla., Mrs. A. L. Haines of Gage, Okla., and Mrs. H. R. Vandenventer of Mountain View, Okla., also 21 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. One daughter died in infancy, another daughter Mrs. Bertha Skaggs, died at Loahoma, March 7, 1915. Mr. Viers moved whit his family from Clark county, Mo. To Lahoma, Okla., in 1898, where he lived on a farm until he moved to Enid ten years ago.

His funeral was conducted by his pastor, Rev. E. L. Watson, in the First Baptist church and his body laid to rest in Enid cemetery.
