Mrs.
John Barber
Julia Ann Hottle,
oldest child of George and Mary Synder Hottle, was born north of Ashton, Missouri, June 27, 1854
and departed this life July 1, 1938 at the age of 84 years, and 4 days.
She was married to John Barber, March
11, 1880. To this union two children were
born: Joseph William and May Bell.
She
was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church to which she
remained a member throughout her life.
Her husband preceded her into the life
beyond on May 26, 1905 and her son, Joseph May 13, 1936.
She leaves to remember her, a daughter
Mrs. G. C. Hauptmann of near Wyaconda, four grandchildren, Mrs. Carrol Bradford
of Bonaparte, Iowa; Mrs. Cecil Hartman of Wyaconda, James Hauptmann of near
Wyaconda and John William Barber of near Wyaconda; three great grandchildren:
Larry Lee Bradford, Robert William and Barbara Ana Hartman.
Of four brothers and three sisters,
Mitch Hottle and Mrs. Joe Barber both of near
Wyaconda and Miss Etta May Hottle living in Wyaconda
remain.
Besides many nephews, nieces
and other relatives she leaves a host of friends to miss her.
Her whole life was spent in Clark
County. She grew up on a farm southeast
of Wyaconda. After marriage, she moved
with her husband to the Kahoka prairie and later the family made its permanent
home east of Wyaconda.
She has written her own life's story and
whatever is good and beautiful in it has been inspired directly or indirectly
by that Teacher of Nazareth.
Funeral services were held at New Woodville
Baptist church Sunday, July 3, at 2 p. m.
Burial was in church cemetery.
